  1. The photography. TCD is always awesome with his pictures, it's like 3D.
  2. The angle the picture was taken.
  3. And of course, the subject of the picture.

Glo Naija Sings 3: The Evictions!

It's been a whirlwind experience for the contestants but it has got to end sometime and that is the case with Oni.
She was evicted on Sunday, 30th October leaving just four contestants - Mattade, Vicky, Teesongz and Christian, standing for the Glo Naija Sings ultimate prize.

Last week featured performances from the Afrobeat genre, and when the votes were in, Christian and Mattade were sent to the safe seats, followed closely by Tee Songz. Vicky is now the last girl standing, hopefully she can clinch the prize.

The Nigeria Music Video Awards 2011

The nominees list for the 2011 Nigerian Music Video Awards has been released. The grand event will be holding at the prestigious Eko Hotel & Suites in November. Topping the awards list this year are Darey and J’odie with four nominations each, followed closely by Goldie and Freestyle with three nominations. Other great contenders are Omawumi, Sammie Okposo, Dipp!, T.I.V and Tipsy who all have two nominations.

For the first time since its inception, NMVA has included Best Southern Africa Video and Best Western Africa Video as new categories in this year’s awards.

Aside recognizing new artistes who are doing extremely well in their chosen careers, the awards is also recognizing the efforts of incredible new music video directors. Nominated alongside Clarence Peters this year in the Best Cinematography category are Nodash and Tokah for their ingenious directing on 'No Be Dada' and 'Kuchi Kuchi' respectively. They were also nominated alongside Patrick Elis in the Most Promising Video Director category. The NMVA has established that artistes and video directors as well as producers can share glory side by side on the same stage as witnessed at the previous successful editions.

Lots of plans are already in the pipeline as preparations for the fifth consecutive edition of the awards heat up. Expectations are also very high in every sector of the entertainment industry as to what to expect in this year’s event that is fast positioning as the most credible, most respected and most attractive out of Africa.
The awards organizers re-instated their commitment to transparency and as such are weary of all lobbyists warming them to stay at bay as only good videos will be duly rewarded.
To lend credence to the theme of this year’s event, the Federal Ministry of Tourism has endorsed the project as a viable national brand deserving all institutional and corporate sponsorship.

Who Glammed it up best?

I am really passionate about fashion and always love to see people rock their outfits.

This series starts up with two strong ladies in the entertainment business but in different sectors: Reality TV and Music.
They are both fashion icons in their respective ways and have rocked a certain dress straight from the runway. They did justice to the dress differently, though I have my favorite, but I want to know your thoughts on it.

Salvatore Ferragamo's Houndstooth dress from the 2011 Fall collection (Runway).

Kim Kardashian in the same dress but paired with a black clutch, a pair of black shoes and my favorite, the red lipstick. This is a safe way of wearing the houndstooth dress, because it has more than enough characters on it and you don't want to look like a drag queen.

Lady Gaga opts to look like the runway model pairing it with a chunky neck piece, houndstooth clutch, hat, sunglasses, shoes, her left leg, all Ferragamo. This is where I ask: Was she the model for the collection's ad campaign? This really hurts the eyes.

So my beautiful glammies, what do you think?

Mr. Nigeria 2011: Meet the contestants...

I must say, this year's contest will be a bit difficult for the judges to make a choice because these 18 guys are.... bla-to-da-zing!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know the criteria for choosing the best of all but I will say this, if the body is part of it (of course it is) then, I wish the judges all the best. Lol!

Meet them.... Ladies, they are all yours.

Banky W and Dineo Moeketsi to host The Channel O MVAs

Multi-award winning Banky W, behind hit songs like 'Strong Ting' and 'Feeling it', is set to host The Channel O MVAs alongside South Africa's sexy O-Access presenter, Dineo Moeketsi on November 11, 2011 at the Sandton Convention Center in Jo'burg, SA.

I am certain with this 'combo', we are sure of nothing less than pure entertainment.

Banky W is immensely proud to be hosting this year’s Channel O Music Video awards, brought to you in association with Hyundai.
“It is truly a great honor for me to be chosen as this year’s host. Channel O has been one of the greatest platforms for African artistes over the years, and the award show is always a spectacular event; the show has a history of raising the bar and setting the standard for events on our continent. I’m so proud to be a part of it. I’m very excited about the opportunity, and I hope and pray that I do a great job as anchor. I plan on working with the team to ensure that this year’s show is the biggest and best celebration of African music that we’ve had till date… Let’s go!! #LagosPartyStateofMind,” says an elated Banky W.

“Of all the peaks during my time at Channel O, I never imagined this would come my way. I am honored, humbled, pleasantly surprised and ever so grateful to be hosting this year’s Channel O Music Video Awards. I am even more excited to have such a brilliant African artiste like Banky W as my co-host. Words cannot begin to describe how thankful I am for Channel O. I’m well beyond excited and I get tiny butterflies just thinking about it. The 11th of November can’t come any sooner…LET THE GAMES BEGIN!” says Dineo.

Voting for the 2011 Channel O Music Video Awards closes midnight Friday 28 October 2011. Visit www.channelo.tv to cast your votes via web or WAP.

GLAMTREND: The Smokey Eye

SMOKEY EYE....
is a great way to make a statement with the eyes. It has always been in fashion, but this year, it is as big as ever.
The magic behind this trend's popularity is that the smokey eyes can change your face/look completely and can dramatically transform the home girl into a stylish goddess. You don't need to have a big or bright eye to create this fabulous look.

HOW TO GET THIS LOOK IN 10mins...
  • Before you begin, prepare the face; you do this by using a good face wipe.
  • Choose the right colors to create your smokey image.
  • Prepare the eyelid.
The major key to a flawless make up and also to keeping your eye shadows from melting into your crease (the middle of the eye) as the day goes on is to keep the lids oil free. To achieve this, start off with an eye shadow base also know as primer. It holds your eye shadow the whole day and prevents it from melting. Bear in mind that it is not an eye shadow, but an eye shadow base. It is usually colorless or slightly tinted.

  • Apply eyeliner
Whichever color you are going for; may be a black, green, brown or grey smokey eye, apply liner in any of  the color hues you want, preferably black, above the upper lash line, making the line thicker in the middle of the eye.

  • Blend in color on bottom lash
Blending is a major part of any make up. For colors on the bottom (a major smokey eye look) you will want to use a lighter liner like grey or brown. After applying the liner, the key is to smudge it to give a soft but edgy smokey effect. You can also apply a bit of shadow to get full smudge effect and the only part of the eyes that you smudge is the bottom/lower lash.

  • Apply a light shade eye shadow
A nice cream shade would do. Sweep a light, shimmery shadow over the lids to your brow bone.

  • Blend in darker color
Now that you have the light shade eye shadow and black eyeliner on, its time to get that smokey effect. You need a darker eye shadow shade. Using an eye shadow brush, blend in color starting from your lash line, upwards. Make sure to blend into the lash line so the black eyeliner disappears. Stop deep color at crease and bear in mind that the liner comes before the eye shadow in both the upper lash and the bottom/lower lash. Finish with several coats of mascara to give volume to the lash and you have the perfect smokey eye look, transforming the home girl to a stylish goddess.
