Funke Akindele is back!!! and this time in Tunde Kelani’s new feature film "Maami". She plays the title role of a poor but hardworking single mother struggling to raise her only son against all odds. She is gifted with a loving heart, enterprising spirit, brave soul and ready to do anything for him. She is the center of his world until he begins to yearn for the father he has never known.
The film is set over a 2-day period and the events lead to the 2010 FIFA World Cup as her son, Kashimawo, becomes a national hero.
The screenplay was adapted by Tunde Babalola from Femi Osofisan’s novel of the same title. Co-stars are Amstel Malta Box-Office season 4 winner, Wole Ojo and former beauty queen (QueenAfrik), Tamilore Kuboye with special guest appearances by soul diva, Yinka Davies, Kayode Balogun, Olumide Bakare, Fatai Rolling Dollar and Biodun Kupoluyi.
"Maami" will be in cinemas from February 3rd, 2012.
